TEHRAN, Oct. 12 (MNA) – Parliament s General Director for International Affairs said Thu. that Iran welcomes expanding parliamentary ties with Uruguay.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remark in a meeting with Uruguayan Ambassador to Tehran Carlos Sgarbi von Steinmann on Thursday, voicing Iran’s readiness to host Iran and Uruguay s Friendship-Parliamentary Group, as well as specialized economic commissions of the South American country’s parliament.

“Parliamentary relations help create better understanding of the other side’s positions towards global events and developments,” Amir-Abdollahian said. “Boosting such interactions can also facilitate economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.”

Carlos Sgarbi, for his part, deemed positive the growing economic and cultural cooperation between the two sides, expressing hope that bilateral transactions would turn out successful and contribute to the development of the two countries economic and cultural relations.
