Iran, Cameroon set to promote ties
Foreign Ministry’s Director General for African Affairs Mehdi Aqajafari in the last leg of his visit to western Africa on Tuesday underlined Iran’s resolve to consolidate bilateral ties with Cameron.

In a meeting with Cameroon Minister of Islamic World Edum Gregum in Yaounde, he also submitted Foreign Minister Zarif’s letter of invitation to his counterpart to pay a visit to Tehran in the future.

Recalling Iran’s numerous capacities and opportunities in various fields of economy, technology and industry, Aqajafari said boosting participation of private sector is essential for development of mutual cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Cameroonian minister thanked his Iranian counterpart's invitation recalling his visit to Tehran when he had took part in the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in 2012.

He voiced Cameroon government’s interest to enhance relations with Iran.

Gregun also urged Iranian companies to participate in the developmental projects of the African country.

During the meeting, the two sides explored avenues for promoting regional and international cooperation in various fields such as fighting terrorism and extremism and enhancing collaboration in the international circles.

They also underlined both countries’ joint efforts to bolster unity in Islamic world and step up cooperation in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

African visit of Foreign Ministry’s director general took him to Senegal, Nigeria and Ivory Coast prior to Cameroon.
