Iran welcomes Turkey’s plan for building wall on joint border
Tehran, May 9, IRNA -- An informed source in Iran's Foreign Ministry said that Tehran is aware of and welcomes Turkey's plan for building a wall along the joint border with Iran.

However he made it clear that Iran must be informed about any border act by Turkey.

Turkey’s Hurriyet daily announced few days ago that Turkish government has plans to build a wall along the border with Iran in order to help what it calls “fighting PKK”.

As claimed by Turkey, the plan will be apparently carried out in line with security measures, the source said, adding that the plan will be time-consuming.

Noting that Iran has no opposition to the plan, he said that $2 million of textile is smuggled into Iran via the Turkish border which will be prevented in case of building a border wall.

“We even encourage this (building border wall) should happen sooner (rather than later) and flow of contraband to Iran should be curbed.”
