Uzbek president offers sympathies over flood in NW Iran
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent an official message to his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani to offer condolences over the loss of citizens in NW Iran flood.

“The occurrence of flood, in some areas of Iran, which victimized dozens of Iranian citizens, was a saddening event which gripped me with sorrow,” reads part of the message of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan to his Iranian counterpart, President Hassan Rouhani.

Around 40 people were killed as flash floods hit northwestern Iran five days ago. Most of the victims were from Eastern Azerbaijan Province where 17 people were killed being trapped in their moving cars being flushed away by flood.

“Feeling deepest grieves, I deliver the message of sympathies of Uzbek nation and myself to you and the people of Iran to be delivered to the bereaved families,” said the Uzbek president in another part of his message before saying that he shares feeling the pain with Iranians.
